You may be one of millions of people wrestling with an exhausting winter cold. Do you know why? And how can a Steam Shower help?
Contrary to popular belief, Dr. Jonathan Blum with Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, reports increases in winter colds is not linked to the historic notion of being outside in the cold.
Dr. Blum reports, the truth is many viruses have a characteristic seasonal pattern. And tend to spread in crowds, dry air, and school environments. Also important to note is colds are mainly caused by viruses and not bacteria. Therefore, colds should not be treated with antibiotics.
So how do Steam Showers help Colds?
Steam Showers keep nasal passages moist by generating steam helping with harsh and uncomfortable dryness. The steam also increases body temperature, improves circulation, and promotes relaxation. Those using Steam Showers report better sleep, which is another aid to overcoming a cold.
Here Are the Top Cold Relieving Tips

Hello MyBath my name is Andrea and I've got a couple questions for you. Does the steam from the showers help with sinus and colds? I have the worst case of allergies in the world. So how does it relief or release allergies? My next question is my arthritis is really starting to hurt and do you have any models for that? If you could steer me in in the right direction I would love you guys forever. Thank you Andrea.

I take regular showers, In saying that I mean not a steam shower. I was thinking that if I get a steam shower I might be able to prevent a cold. I do feel like even in a regular shower I have good results in breaking up congestion. Does this type of therapy help in gettin my immune system up to par? If so which unit do you think is the best for that? Is a whirlpool gonna help too?

Hello,
I just wanted to drop a line regarding the above blog. I actually have a steam shower. The statements above are correct, at least, fr me it is. I like to put in a combination of eucaliptis and lavendar, in my steam generator. It really does help clear sinus' and gets rid of congestion for me. Not to mention, it smells great and it' relaxing. My steam shower isn't a cure-all, but it certainly help keep me healthy.

Sparky,
Thanks for the follow up! So I get that is helps sinuses but which steam shower do you have and Does it have a whirlpool tub? I'm gonna get 1 of these but I really need to know how effective this is going to be for me. Oh yeah thanks for the tip on the eucalyptus! I'll have to try that. I like the set up of the MB157 any thoughts?
Thanks again Sparky

I have the rainforest 78. It is the mb160 on the website. I'd say the mb157 would work perfect considering it is almost the same shower. My steam shower has 16 jets that one has 14 and it is 57.1 inches instead of 64.1 inches. I think you'll get good use with that model. Enjoy!

WOW! I just got out of my steam shower. I can breathe out of both nostrils. That may sound funny but it has been a full day and both were clogged. I didn't even use any aroma therapy. I just took a regular shower then sat in the tub and watched Judge Judy for a half hour. I could feel the pressure release after 10 mins. I feel like a new man. I'd almost let my friends use it for their colds, "almost"

I have used the steam shower for weeks with the thought of prevention in mind. It has been a month and zero colds and runny noses. I would say that this is working perfectly considering the weather ups and downs lately. Can there be any better way to relax and enjoy these steam showers!?!?

Holy freaking heck! I love this steam shower! I started getting a sore throat last night. I decided to try out the steam sauna. I got the aromatherapy cubes put them in the steam box and turned it on. Not only was it steamy and nice smelling but the warmth was great. I guess I was a little tense so the heat really relaxed me. I woke up this morning feeling right as rain!
