The holidays are filled with a lot of hustle and bustle, which can be stressful at times. Especially with kids in toe.
There also can be a lot of emotions brought to the surface getting together with family members. This combination can lead to feelings of sadness and depression.
When this happens, it’s important to take time to release these emotions either in private or with a trusted support person. Releasing and processing these emotions allows yourself the opportunity to move forward and enjoy this special time of year with those you love.
If you find these emotions consuming, overwhelming, or lingering consider the following.
1. Call a close friend.
2. Seek some transitional support from a local support group, counselor, or trained professional.
3. Set some boundaries (limits) with family and friends.
4. Secretly perform an act of random kindness for someone in need.
5. Create some simple and new family traditions.
6. Relax in your hot tub.
7. Cancel going to an event or two.
8. Buy online gifts verse taking on the malls.
9. Practice deep breathing.
10. Make a list of all your thankful for.
You can create new Holiday traditions making this time of year special for all. Please share with us your best holiday traditions so we can all benefit.
Wishing you a happy, peaceful, and blessed Holiday Season!

I have gone through some symptoms of "SAD" Seasonal anxiety disorder before. I do have to say that after using some certain methods, I have been able to curb the feelings. My steam shower is a great place to do breathing therapy. Sounds funny but I use the aroma therapy in the steam box to help relax when I feel down. I also listen to calming or upbeat music to boost my mood. Steam showers are a good way for any personal healing as well as health. It doesn't hurt sharing time wit the Chica in there too;)

In the midst of the holidays with a weak economy. This has to be the second worst part of the year. No money for Christmas gifts. Everyone is in a money pinch. Pre-holiday worries are getting me down. The only thing worse than this will have to be the post-holiday hangover in January. The only way to get out of this is to do the best you can with what you have. Even though it looks bleak, there is always another day to face. Life is what you make it. I say lets keep our heads up and everything will be fine. Happy Holidays to all!

I hate this time of year!
I kind of feel like the world is punishing me for enjoying the spring and summer so much. I know it's not anything like that but Blah blah blah! I am going to take a cruise and relax in a tropical location for a week. All who can do this, "Do it". Go somewhere nice and you will forget it's winter. That always makes me feel better.

I kind of miss holidays in the summer. For some reason the summer doldrums can get ya down too. Maybe we should create Christmas in July.
