Reflexology: relflections, lamenting the fact that I am not a visual artist.
The above statement is not a joke or a desecration of anything i have to offer you in the forms of knowledge already acquired, or in this case, knowledge more accurately refined. I have not and I suppose truly CANNOT myself manage a likening of the human foot that would be worthy of the space. And, "true knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance..." so, I'm off the hook.... with the drawing.... i am however a writer. And writing in itself is a descriptive art, so I suppose that i am going to ned to describe and guide one of the My Bathers who from Callifornia has posed the following question...
"My bath blog, I have recently, about three months ago, purchased and instaled the rainforest 78 Steam Shower. My wife and I are very much in love with our new bathroom machine, we know its name, but find when we look at it or sit in the steam that we are reduced to not really caring what it's called; it's a machine of some sort and it's awesome. And, thanks to your blog we know what it can do for us. Uhm, one thing which has not been mentioned is anything for Menstruation and this Hydrotherapy you speak of, and I myself being a shift worker who spends a lot of time on my feet as a supervisor at a warehouse am interested in Reflexology and having it geared more toward sleep. Now, I'm not complaining or anything... I can always un hook the foot massage piece of the shower and massage my feet-which I do all the time as does my wife, but if you're saying that I can target an area and get to sleep faster... that would be so great. Not sure if you take knowledge and learning requests or not..." Mitch and Sherri Endicott, Burbank California.
In fact Mitch, I do take requests. I will address your wife's concerns in another full post which I have been working on and need to complete. i wish not to minimize and event or treatment which has to do with the female anatomy by making it share a post with a man's foot. Why? Simple number's Mitch; women make up 52% of our population. They are simply more important, not only in my eyes, but also in the eyes of genetics evidently. So, I've a post in development directed specifically at that issue.
Mitch, infact you can target one area to produce sleep and relaxation... more relaxation is what we're going to target and possibly light therapy as well. Your entire circadium rhythym is essentially boiled down to the effects of light appearing and light disappearing. So, you can, theoretically reset this rhythym with light. However like most things it is easier said than done.
Here we go mitch, step by step:
First put the foot massage accessory of the Rainforest 78 Steam Shower on the floor of the shower while you sit in the main seat facing the steam enclosing doors (nice choice of a shower by the way, kind of a shower among showers... but i don't have to tell YOU that.)
Place your foot on the massager so that your heel rests firmly and si supported by the lower rail meant to support it. I want you to just allow the massage jets to work their magic in a general sense for right now. Let them relax the full sole of the the foot, each one. This type of accupressure alone should be effective at relaxing you to some degree. But, you've been here before, so lets move on after about two minutes.
Now reach down and grasp the toes of your foot at the point where you can bend them back toward your shin. You want to do this gently. And as with anything else which requires stretching... do it for around 9-13 seconds at a time and repeat it three times.
Now position the main and most forceful jets on the foot massage accessory on the center of your foot, about "two fingers" below the ball of your foot. enjoy this accupressure for about 30 seconds and then I want you to "roll" your ankle so that the jets hit the sides, start with the outside of each foot (roll them out) and now, as the water impacts and cascades off of them move them forward and back... another thirty seconds...
Now... some manual work. Sorry, nothing worth having is obtained without some work, right? I want you to return the right foot back to being flat on the accupressure massage foot rest and raise your left foot and cross it on your lap. Now, find the grooves on the top of your foot between each toe, which should run all the way back to your ankle. NOW: decision time, as you find the particulars of your own anatomy and how it responds to treatment you may decide how far up your foot you wish to apply this next technique. Finding this channel, this dip in soft flesh, gently apply pressure with either your thumb or your index and middle finger- apply pressure, release, apply pressure in a circular motion, pushing into the soft tissue just enough to manipulate it and release. 30 seconds again, switch feet.
Start over and do this routine around three to five times... and with each itteration take your time and be more involved and pay more and more attention to the details of you feet... you are expecting your body to pay attention to your needs and give you sleep, so pay it back in kind and give your body attention... at the end of this treatment, if there is steam inside the shower- I'm guessing there should be with the 78 -turn the temperature down on the shower and enjoy a slow cooling session. Relax. Now, if you can... in your jellied state of relaxation... find your bedroom and get some sleep!
Mitch: I'll leave you with this to try. i look forward to further coorespondance with you and I will address your wife's concerns in the next blog entry. As we continue to learn together as what I've termed "My Bathers," and I call this the "My Bathers" blog to myself, we'll become more adept at manipulating different parts of our bodies using the technology and health, bath, shower, and Infrared technology which is being invested in the health of America by My bath.
